Interfibio at the Experimentathon 2025
Interfibio PhD student Elisenda Santaló Ferrer and Aris Liboà currently on a research visit at our labs, participated in the Experimentathon 2025, an innovative competition organized by the Hub Experimenta from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. This unique challenge brings together university students and high schoolers to design and prototype educational scientific games in just 10 hours.
The challenge for this year, proposed by the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM) of Barcelona, focused teams on designing an educational game that explores how rising temperatures, ocean acidification, and pollution impact marine ecosystems. Six scientific experts from the ICM have advised the participants to ensure the accuracy of the projects' content.
Before starting, participants received an intensive two-hour training in creative methodologies, such as the 4C model and design thinking, led by Lluis Sabadell Artiga, an artist and expert in art, ecology, and co-creation. This enabled them to quickly move from the ideation phase to building the prototype and presenting their project to a jury composed of scientists and experts in education and gamification.
We're proud to highlight that Barbara Vastenavond, also from Interfibio, is one of the driving forces behind this inspiring initiative.
The Experimentathon is a brilliant example of how creativity, collaboration, and science come together to engage young minds.
