Bio: Christine Aubrey Justo received her BS Biology (2012) and MS Microbiology (2019) degrees from the University of the Philippines (Philippines). She did a 5-month internship with Interfibio during her master's then joined the group as a doctoral student last 2020. Her research work is mainly on the development of DNA-based assays and sensors for the detection of microorganisms related to sexual health such as Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma hominis, and Ureaplasma spp. She is also working on the detection of microRNAs that may serve as biomarkers for host response to infection. In the assay and sensor development, she utilizes DNA as analyte in isothermal DNA amplification techniques and as biorecognition element (aptamers and modified oligonucleotides). Her goal is to develop a point-of-care DNA-based assay for sexual health monitoring.
