Interfibio Participates in Sustronics Project Meetings

Driving Innovation in Sustainable Electronics

Interfibio recently took part in the Pilot 3.1a Meeting on October 28th, as well as the General Assembly of the Sustronics project, hosted by Infineon in Munich. This event gathered representatives from the project's 46 partners, emphasizing the collaborative power behind pioneering sustainable solutions for the electronics industry.

The Sustronics project aims to transform the European electronics industry by harnessing the power of sustainable practices and fostering innovation. By combining eco-friendly electronics, increased productivity, and the development of cutting-edge functionalities, the project aims to propel the industry towards a more sustainable and prosperous future. With a strong focus on green technology and novel business opportunities, Sustronics seeks to make a lasting impact on the electronics landscape in Europe.

Interfibio’s contribution to the Sustronics Project

Interfibio’s main focus within this project is to create an environmentally-friendly sensor that reduces the ecological footprint, specifically for C-peptide detection. The sensor must be single-use due to its contact with biological samples. Current prototypes, demonstrated at TRL3 by partners MEDIZINISCHE UNIVERSITAT GRAZ, CBmed, Interfibio, and INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES AUSTRIA, are evolving to incorporate sustainable materials like paper fluidics from TEKNOLOGIAN TUTKIMUSKESKUS VTT and robust electrochemical sensors from CANATU.

In this context, Interfibio will adapt the assay for this sustainable sensor platform. Our approach includes using eco-friendly materials to support immunochromatographic flow, integrating the electrodes and potentiostat, and developing sustainable surface chemistry for stable C-peptide immobilization on the sensor's electrodes.

Sustronics Project

Sustronics has ambitious goals to revolutionize the European electronics industry by fostering sustainability through eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient products, and circular business models. The initiative aims to support the Green Deal objectives while enhancing the industry's competitiveness and strategic autonomy, positioning Sustronics as a flagship project for sustainable electronics in Europe.

With Sustronics, the electronics industry moves closer to a future where innovation and sustainability work hand-in-hand, offering new business opportunities while contributing to a greener planet.
